Leisure in the Rhine-Main Area: Lust instead of boredom

Leisure in the Rhine-Main Area: Lust instead of boredom

What's great about Frankfurt? Each of you probably has a different answer to that. I like an infinite number of things about Frankfurt. First and foremost, its location. The Rhine-Main area, to be more precise. If you live here, you experience the luxury of an almost infinite range of leisure activities. There is so much to discover. Constantly and always. That's why I'm taking you on a journey of discovery just before Easter - hiking, biking, finding new things. There are no limits to your imagination.

March has presented itself like April, don't you think? Rain was followed by sunshine, spring-like temperatures beckon you outside. But of course, I don't feel like pedaling the same routes every time. How boring. That's why I looked around a bit to see what more varied destinations there are in the area. Discovered countless different, delightful

· gardens and green spaces.

· Monasteries and parks throughout the Rhine-Main area that invite you to relax and explore.

Now let's be honest: Frankfurt is a true paradise for us leisure cyclists - this paradise also has its own name: Rhine-Main Regional Park, which now stretches over 550 kilometres.

More precisely, from Groß-Krotzenburg in the Main-Kinzig district and the Wetterau region, the Regional Park stretches from east to west from Büdingen to Rüdesheim in the Rheingau. And the heart with a 190-kilometre-long circular route is, of course, Frankfurt.

Spectacular things can also be discovered along the way. For example, a fabulous bridge over the oil port in Raunheim, a blue crane in Offenbach or the Opelsteg near Rüsselsheim.

And a special experience awaits enthusiastic cyclists this summer in the east - with the extension of the so-called Limes Route, which is 40 kilometers long.

What I found particularly exciting, even for my friends with children: The stelae, poplars and trees that recreate the course of the ancient Roman border wall.

Exploring Rhine-Main: Walking or strolling through monasteries. The sky's the limit.

What's the perfect Sunday outing? Going for a walk, getting to know something new in the area, maybe enjoying a coffee outside without having to spend hours on the autobahn. For this, just in the Rhine-Main area also offer destinations in every direction.

A monastery tour is not only fun, but also promises a varied afternoon with the diverse monastery gardens. Whether it's the popular Eltville am Rhein with its vineyards or, say, the former Benedictine abbey in Seligenstadt.

The extraordinary thing about all the parks mentioned? They are meant to be presented as historically faithful to the original as only possible. While the garden in Seligenstadt belonged to the convent and was laid out in baroque form, spacious landscape parks such as the one in Bensheim-Auerbach, with their ingenious pathways, are worth exploring.

My Top 5 Gardens and Parks

· Kurpark in Wiesbaden

· Landgraviate Garden Landscape in Bad Homburg

· Monastery garden in Seligenstadt

· Park Schönbuch near Aschaffenburg
