The Günthersburgpark - Not only in summer one of Frankfurt's most popular parks

Category: Favorite places

At the eastern end of Frankfurt's Nordend lies the Günthersburgpark. Once laid out by the Rothschild banking family, the now 7.4-hectare park has been open to the public since 1892. On the spacious meadows, sun-seekers lie in warm weather, friends meet for a picnic or children play football and tag. But the large playground is also an attraction for families with children in the cooler temperatures. Because there is something here for almost all ages: sandbox and swings for the very young, slides and climbing opportunities for slightly older, table tennis tables or even basketball hoops for older children.

The adventure playground is of course a highlight for children, but in summer it is outshone by another offer: The water features. When the temperature climbs, water gushes out of five stone figures here, which is not only a pleasant way to cool off, but also a great way to play. So then you can also regularly hear whooping and loudly laughing children and also discover many accompanying parents who are not sad about it when they themselves get a small refreshing shower off.

But apart from that, there is another place in Günthersburgpark for the adults to relax: Right next to the Orangerie, the last remnant from the Rothschild era, which now houses the Frankfurt Kinderschutzbund, is the Café, which is open all year round and offers hot and cold drinks as well as cakes and small snacks. Here you can sit comfortably under the trees, hear the children's laughter from afar and simply switch off from everyday life.

An absolute highlight can be found in the summer on the meadow area, which was added to the park in 1991. For here the open-air festival STOFFEL, initiated by the Stalburg Theatre, takes place for one month. Music, cabaret, children's theatre for free and under the open sky - this is really a very special experience that should not be missed.

Whether for a walk, a little relaxation in the Parkcafé or for exuberant fun on the large playground - Günthersburgpark is definitely worth a visit all year round!
