Just do something really crazy for a change, especially on the weekend: so let's think about the last time we ate flowers? A long time ago? Then let's go to the "Friday Kitchen". Never heard of it? Another reason to visit this special place in Frankfurt as soon as possible. The "freitagsküche" was invented by an artists' collective in 2004 and is a permanent institution in Frankfurt. Once a week, artists and cultural workers cook here for guests. This Friday, Stilblüten founder Stella Friedrichs will be cooking a flourishing menu to kick off the Stilblüten festival. This much can be said about the Mmmmh . Menu in advance: Orange blossom water, lavender and rose water will feature heavily. All information about the menu and dates can be found here. But floral feasting alone will not be enough. We're discovery-minded in November, so we're excited to have fashion studios and creatives open their doors for us to look over their shoulders as part of the "Stilblüten Festival for Fashion and Design" from Nov. 20 to Dec. 6.
We get to talk to the makers - and possibly make some ourselves! Stilblüten sows - and blooms all over Frankfurt! As part of Stadtblüten, studios, workshops and shops open their doors and invite interested visitors to look behind the scenes and join in. How is a fashion collection created? What does a bag maker do? How do you turn computer scrap into wearable jewellery? Fashion, screen-printing and upcycling workshops are on the agenda, as are studio visits, workshop tours and shop events. For example, on Nov. 24 from 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at the "Open Studio Day <link http: www.danieladamm.de _blank>Daniela Damm & <link http: www.joelfourier.de _blank>Fourier." We watch how handmade leather bags are created and learn basic facts about bag making. In addition we enjoy coffee and a glass of sparkling wine. So it's best to pack your best friend.
For all fashion fans a must is the exhibition opening Ralph Mecke by Schierke Artists as part of the Stilblüten Festival for fashion and design. Ralph Mecke is one of the best German fashion photographers. The Berliner, who now lives in Paris and New York, stages and interprets fashion and people as mysterious, dark realities beneath the beautiful surface. In this exhibition Stilblüten and Schierke Artists show a selection of his fascinating works. Exhibition duration: 20.11.2015 - 09.01.2016
Don't miss: the "Smallest Disco in the World" taking place afterwards.
Fans of upcycling will get their money's worth at <link http: www.fraktali.de _blank>FRAKTALI - Atelier für VerwandlungsDesign.
