It doesn't always have to be mulled wine

Sweeter the bells never jingle and the cups never ring at the Christmas market. So far, so blissful. But, once the first bratwurst has been devoured by Schwenkgrill, the cotton candy has been consumed nice and sticky, and the Feuerzangenbowle has cooled, there are still three Sundays of Advent ahead of us with time to worry about presents. For those of you who have already seen the light, and not just on the Advent wreath, and who, like me, love to give wines as gifts, either because we discovered such delicious varieties at the last wine seminar or because we know the preferences of our neighbours, friends and acquaintances, you will find wonderful wine places in Frankfurt to get excellent advice and to buy. The good wine shops also offer regular tastings. However, if you are a bit afraid of buying wine, I would like to pass on what I learned in a wine seminar:

Whoever likes a wine that he/she drank on holiday in Italy should go to a nice little wine shop. Just describe the area, how much you want to spend and take a bottle or two to try etc. And don't be afraid to describe the wine!!! During my last wine seminar, the leader always encouraged participants to describe what we tasted first after tasting. After the fourth wine, I began to run out of words and all I could think of was, "Tastes like Grandma." Most participants associated with it, heavy perfume, lily scent and damask blankets.

I can highly recommend attending a wine seminar at the <link http: www.geniesserakademie.de _blank>Genießerakademie. By the way, certainly a nice Christmas gift for friends too! After this little anecdote, I now come to the places of indulgence:

<link http: lohrey-weine.de _blank>Lohrey am Kaiserlei is a small, inconspicuous hut, behind which hides a specialist with a fine range and even better treasures of delicatessen. My personal favourite, which I only discovered on recommendation!

<link http: bornheimerweinkost.de _blank>Weinkost in Bornheim is the personal tip of a good friend. She, too, always brings interesting, exciting new grape varieties for our champagne evenings (it's not as swanky as it might sound).

Whoever else has good things to recommend, please feel free to share in the comments! On that note, cheers and have a great Advent season!
