Platz da Sandwich, the good old Stulle is back! Oh, what am I saying? The good old Stulle has been experiencing a revival at its finest for some time now. Because what is currently offered in the Cafés and snack bars is quasi Stulle 2.0: Thickly topped, gladly with the popular avocado or toasted and neatly loaded with salmon and arugula. Did that whet your appetite? I bet it did. Me, too. When the weather gets warmer, I don't always <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de insidefrankfurt s shopping schoener-essen-in-der-kantine-lassi-lampen-und-linsen-statt-currywurst-mit-pommes.html _blank>Feel like eating canteen or cooking myself. Salad or sandwich will do for me during the day too. But instead of relying on soggy white bread, smart people have turned to our local bread, and put a culinary spell on it. So today I did a little sandwich check for you.
Where is it worth going for two slices of bread? That's the small but subtle difference between sandwiches and bread. Today I'm not talking about two slices of toast or a loaf of white bread, but about fresh wholemeal bread with a spread.
· In the city centre you'll find Coffee Fellow, a coffee chain. But, please don't rant about it right now, because the avocado bread is really something to behold, is well-balanced in seasoning, so it tastes good, and is acceptably priced.
Since the shop is located in the middle of the city, surrounded by bank towers, there should be some rush at lunchtime. So you should definitely allow for that in terms of timing. When I showed up there early Monday afternoon, it was less busy, so I would have liked the service to be a little more attentive. For that, there's a point deduction on the recommendation scale.
I confess, when it comes to avocados, I can't resist. That's why Coffee Fellows made it onto my fine little list. Just chalk it up to my passion for Mexican food. Of course, a place that serves strudels needs to have a little retro ambiance. So with grandma's tablecloth, old wallpaper or tiles from the 70s - if you know what I mean. When I order a strudel, I also want to feel like I'm at the dinner table with my little brother when the Pril flowers were still stuck to the tiles in the kitchen at my parents' house.
· Now this is where "Little Anna" comes in. This is not my primary school friend, but the name of the original Cafés in the Gallusviertel with super good strudels. I learned about little Anna years ago by hearsay. If something has success without big Tatütataa and asserts itself by word of mouth, that speaks already times for a shop. Of course, even such tips then have to be tested in person.
What can I say? Who can resist crusty stone-baked bread and delicious spreads? Little Anna's is like my favorite American sandwich shop, Subway - here, the bread is topped right in front of me and then put in the oven. A big sandwich costs 5,50 Euro, a small one 3,50.
Also for this snack bar applies: What tastes good is popular. So be prepared for longer queues at peak times. But I wouldn't call little Anna a sandwich shop. Rather as a shop for delicious sandwiches. The connection via the main station is good, but from there it is still a few meters to walk.
· Less crowds, but so really cool ambience offers in Sachsenhausen "Amélies Wohnzimmer". In a nutshell, I'm addicted to the grilled sandwiches here and love sitting outside at lunchtime now when the weather is nice. I like the quiet location near the casual bridge district just as much, because it's just that much better to shop with a full stomach. The staff is always friendly and attentive. When it's busy, the sandwich can take a little longer. But that is rare anywhere else. Parking is notoriously joyless and exhausting in the area, so I'd advise you to take the bike or bus instead. And because it's you, I'll also reveal my favorite sandwich that makes the trip so worthwhile: "Smoerrebroet" - farmhouse bread, horseradish, arugula, cucumber, and smoked salmon. 6.50 euros may not be that cheap. But the sandwich is worth the price!
