Summer Rain Vacation in the City

Summer Rain Vacation in the City
Summer Rain Vacation in the City
Summer Rain Vacation in the City

"Singin' in the rain" or "like ice in the sunshine"? I can't say life is boring right now, summer really keeps you on your toes. The good thing is that with this roller coaster weather, there is something for everyone - from sun worshippers to rain fans like me. Yes, I like rain. Because then everything is so nice and green and lush. But anyway. You know what I think is really great right now? It's the holidays. I have to go back to work after my much too short vacation, but I got through the city at the speed of light. No traffic jam, no nothing. That gives me the feeling that the city belongs to me alone, doesn't it? When else do you have that? Exactly!

Okay, the city is using the time to tear up even more construction sites, even though that hardly seems possible anymore. Hasn't the last flower been transplanted, the wizened pavement replaced? But the empty streets lower the stress level enormously, so that the drilling and tree-trimming doesn't bother me at all. Do you? Yeah, sure, you can complain that the bakery is closed at noon because there's less going on. But it's like online detox. I just go to the kiosk around the corner.

Holidays in the city with a circus tent

Summer holidays in the city create a whole own relaxed atmosphere. Yes, the city is relaxed. That's because it's not just the abundance of traffic that's missing. Less traffic means fewer commuters parking up the streets outside my front door, leaving me, the resident, out in the cold. Beautiful festivals take place in the city: the queues are short, there's no prodding or pushing because of overcrowding. No sweaty fellow human presses up against his neighbor.

By the way, my favorite summer event is: the STOFFEL, or "Stalburg Theater Offen Luft" in Günthersburgpark. The noise posse that has surrounded this alternative, eclectic cultural event for years is without words. I wish the commitment of the organizers masses of support: so dear readers: defy the weather and pilgrimage in droves to the Günthersburgpark!

If I want to be safe from the wind and weather, however, I quite simply retreat to a bar. I definitely want to try out the Frankfurt offshoot of Munich's H'ugo's - the Bavarian capital's in pub is highly rated by Munich's Bundesliga pros and I was able to get to know it a few weeks ago for a fashion presentation. Here in Frankfurt, H'ugo's is hosting a summer party on Friday evening - with a fashion show on the red carpet and star guest Peyman Amin, who fans of Germany's Next Topmodel still remember as a judge!

Smart organisers have of course equipped themselves against summer rain in Germany and are about to put up a circus tent: The Sommerwerft is currently conjuring up lots of theatre on stage. Especially the improvisation theatre is something I wouldn't miss if I were you. The friends of open air sports, on the other hand, are really shaken up, unless it's about mud running. Nobody has to laugh now! The first mud run "Muddy Angel Run" for women only is five kilometres long. The donation of the participants will be used for the benefit of Brustkrebs Deutschland e.V.

In bad weather, on the other hand, all yogis who like to breathe outside are out of luck. Now please no one misunderstands, because I myself am a yoga teacher, I may talk so J So who is interested in it, should always check up to date whether the event takes place. Most of the time there will be a message posted on Facebook. So in a quiet city, you'll never get bored just because it's a holiday: There are enough events for nice days. As always, you can find the latest news here on Frankfurt-Tipp. If it's raining, you'll have to put up your tent or take your rain gear out into the countryside.

How do you spend rainy days? And how do you experience the city during the holidays?
