The apple is just hot again. The die-hard fans of the smartphone of the same name certainly know that, because next week the eighth version will be released. At the same time Frankfurt is the purest apple paradise anyway. Not only because of the many quaint pubs with their own press house, of which I present you today five traditional apple wine pubs with their own press house.
When I moved to the Rhine-Main area years ago, I was totally surprised by the vast apple fields in the area. Whether around Kriftel in the Main-Taunus district or at the local Lohrberg - it's wonderful to walk around among the fruit trees. At the Lohrberg you will even find the purest apple paradise, with seating areas, a mixed fruit centre and its own farm shop. Also nice for children: the regular training sessions around the apple trees. I am thrilled by the offer to sponsor a small tree - for example for a christening, wedding or other special occasion. J Before I forget: on September 17, the apple festival will take place at the Lohrberg!
OH SCHRECK - THE APPLE IS KNAPP
But local wine pressers are short of the most important ingredient for juice and wine - the apple. Varieties such as the popular Boskop are simply not lounging around enough in the meadow orchards this year. This is no reason for worry lines, but normal, says the association of Hessian apple juice presses. Of course, the weather was to blame once again: in March, frost put an end to the delicate blossoms on the trees. But the bad mood of nature can be helped: To ensure that enough fruit is pressed and turned into delicious juice for us, producers such as Possmann and Nöll are calling for the collection of fallen fruit. Whatever the apple yields is accepted in return for a fee. Therefore, the motto of the hour is: who loves his Ebbelwei, collects!
