Film: There are so many things in our country about which one can get really upset. The energy turnaround is not coming because it is too expensive, for that the cold war is back. The solidarity surcharge is not abolished, for that there is tax waste, wherever you look. And we don't even want to start with the afternoon program of the private channels. One person who has perfected getting worked up about such topics is Gernot Hassknecht. With his regular appearances on the successful heute-show, Hassknecht has long since become a cult figure. Now it's time to give something back to the viewers. And that's why Gernot Hassknecht is touring the country with his program Hassknecht Live to teach his audience how they themselves can become the perfect choleric in just 12 steps.
It's not enough to just get upset about certain topics. It also requires the right breathing technique to stimulate the anger chakra to the point where it can properly erupt. Proper nutrition is also important for both amateur and professional cholerics. After all, getting upset is also a kind of sport. It requires stamina and good physical condition. After all, there are always and everywhere opportunities to prove yourself as a perfect choleric.
No question, Gernot Hassknecht is one of the most popular characters on the heute-show. Actor Hans-Joachim Heist also embodies the rage citizen par excellence really well. However, one notices again and again that Gernot Hassknecht is a purely artificial figure. Anyone who has ever seen his role model from the American Daily Show, the comedian, actor and author Lewis Black, will not only recognize the clear parallels between the two, but will also see that Black's outbursts of rage seem far less played than those of Gernot Hassknecht.
This does not change the fact that the character Gernot Hassknecht has a large fan base, which also likes to experience his outbursts of rage live. So it's no wonder that he performs in front of sold-out houses time and again. The DVD now offers all those who have not (yet) got hold of tickets or simply want to see the programme again and again the opportunity to take part in the 12-step course to becoming the perfect choleric. This is, as long as one agrees with the political orientation of the heute-show in general, very funny and sometimes brought to the point in a wonderfully biting way. Admittedly, some topics are a bit worn out (Berlin airport, RTL afternoon program). But other numbers like the history of the letter of complaint or a look at today's form of protest among German citizens make up for small hangs. So if you like Gernot Hassknecht already in small doses in the heute-show, you should not miss the full pack of tantrums. Worth seeing!
Picture + Sound: Picture and sound are on a good level for a live recording. The picture offers a good overall sharpness and a coherent color mix, seems at times just a little sterile (which, however, may be more due to the very simple stage design). The sound lets the amusing sound well understandable from the boxes. Possible difficulties could therefore only occur if you have the TV set too loud at the beginning and it then cracks so right when Mr. Hassknecht once again the collar bursts.
Extras: On the first DVD there is still an additional scene (about 8:28 min.) from the program. The second DVD contains the 33 best clips from the heute-show (approx. 86 min.). If you like Hassknecht, you will definitely enjoy this compilation. The clips are only cut out of the respective episodes in a very uncharitable way. Choleric people could quickly get upset about it.
Conclusion: Hassknecht Live is a must for all fans of the heute-show. Hans-Joachim Heist alias Gernot Hassknecht leads his audience loudly on the way to the perfect choleric. Although there are a few small lengths, the program works very well overall and is guaranteed to make fans of this character laugh heartily. In addition to the live program, the double DVD offers more than 30 clips from the heute-show - the perfect Hassknecht all-round program. Recommendable
