Content: The relaunch of Germany's most biting TV criticism goes into the second round! After Oliver Kalkofe has proven in the first part of season 1 of Kalkofes Mattscheibe REKALKED in an extremely amusing way that his format has lost nothing in bite and entertainment value even after almost twenty years <link kino s film kalkofes-mattscheibe-rekalked-die-komplette-erste-haelfte-von-staffel-1-dvd-deutschland-2012.html _blank>(the full review is HERE), he finally hands in the second half of the season. And here again he goes into the shallows of the German TV landscape to expose the nonsense lurking everywhere and to comment on the countless niveaulosigkeiten in his very special way.
Whether scripted reality formats, astro shows, Z celebrities or casting shows, no one is really safe from Kalkofe's sharp tongue. Whether Steffen Henssler's rather embarrassing attempt at a rap interlude in his live show, Detlef D Soost and his 10 weeks Body Change program, an Explosiv report about Tatjana, the woman with the strongest vagina in the world, a reality soap in which a man forces his girlfriend to, a reality soap in which a man forces his girlfriend to sort out all the noodle letters that are not in his name for the alphabet soup, or a solo entertainer who explains to viewers the ambiguity of his hit Mopsfidel - Kalkofe puts them all through the wringer in his commentaries and parodies. And also commercials of the Bundeswehr, for sports bras or for a CD set of the duo Goldstars, which has been rejected completely incomprehensibly by all major record companies, the Man of Kalk satirically takes aim.
But a special highlight of the second half of the season is the first Too hot for Primetime broadcast, which gave the box a FSK 16 release. Here it is then about the strictest Dominas of Germany or a commercial of seitensprung.ag and of course Micaela Schäfer may not be missing in such a show. When she talks about how much fun it is for her to show her naked breasts and that she is still dissatisfied with her body despite several operations, then of course a Kalkofe can't remain silent about it. Who wants to know what very special sex toys are offered for the gentleman at Live-Strip or what an appearance of Xavier Naidoo in Sesame Street in the Too hot for Primetime episode has to do, this very special episode should not be missed.
Sure, at times Kalkofe's comments are superficially hard on the border of level and tastelessness. But where behind the dull facade of the contributions, which he pulls through the cocoa, is actually not much more than pure nonsense, Kalkofes rude facade is very much intelligent wit, a good power of observation and an unrestrained joy in exposing trash as just such. Kalkofes Mattscheibe REKALKED is great fun and a must for all who love really good television! Absolutely recommendable!
Picture + Sound: Nothing has changed here compared to the first half of the season: The picture and sound quality is on a good level for a TV comedy show. The picture is clean, the sharpness is decent and the colors powerfully mixed. The sound, which is in Dolby Stereo, transports Kalkofe's biting comments clearly and powerfully on the speakers, although it is not a bad thing that the whole thing mainly takes place very centrally and has little dynamics to offer. Good!
Extras: Also the second DVD box of the first season has again plenty of bonus material worth seeing and hearing to offer. In addition to amusing spots against illegal downloads and animated menus, there is again to each episode an audio commentary with Oliver Kalkofe, director Marc Stöcker and chief judge Oliver Mohme. Although Kalkofe and Stöcker already talked for almost four hours on the first half of the season, the commentaries on the second half still have an extremely high entertainment and information value. And if they ever can't think of anything to talk about, Kalkofe just reads out some bad Fips Asmussen jokes. Even those who usually never listen to audio commentaries should not miss these entertaining and extremely amusing conversations as a Kalkofe fan.
On the third DVD of the set are then numerous other extras worth watching. In addition to a making of (approx. 26 min.) and Yahoo exclusive clips on Dieter Bohlen and Andrea Berger, the viewer also gets to see Kalkofe's appearances on neoParadise (3 + 9 min.) as well as on Circus HalliGalli (approx. 4:32 min.). The latter is an amusing interview conducted by presenter Joko with Kalkofe during a tandem ride through the park.
In the big Wulff special (approx. 45 min.) there is the real Wulff interview, Wulff in the jungle, the Wulff speech from the Christmas show and making of clips to see the contributions. Also entertaining is the look at the DVD premiere Fresse, Fernsehen live in Berlin (approx. 34 min.), where Kalkofe tells the enthusiastic audience some amusing anecdotes and answers questions from his fans. But that's not all: there are also four episodes from the gobstopper (approx. 25 min.), thank-you notes to the producers with gold (approx. 14 min.), silver (approx. 10 min.) and bronze (approx. 4 min.) awards, as well as video greetings from the set (approx. 18 min.), in which the work of some of the staff behind the scenes is presented. The mini-matt disc from the German Television Award (approx. 4 min.) and set photos round out this great additional offering. Very good!
Conclusion: Kalkofes Mattscheibe REKALKED shows also in the second half of the first season, that the king of TV satire the basis for his biting comments is still far from being withdrawn. On the contrary, new levels are repeatedly explored, which Kalkofe can discuss in his usual accurate and direct manner. The second half of the first season of the latest incarnation of the popular matt screen offers, in addition to the 17 barely 15-minute shows, the season finale, two best-of episodes and the Too hot for Primetime episode, also a lot of amusing bonus material, which makes this box simply indispensable for fans. Absolutely recommended!
