12-year-old Luis really doesn't have it easy. Since his father, a ufologist obsessed with the belief in aliens, is considered a weirdo by the whole town, the boy is constantly teased at school. And now he is to be sent to a boarding school as his father is not considered capable of raising him on his own after the death of his mother. It's a terrible situation for the boy, and it doesn't get any easier when three aliens actually land on Earth right under his nose. Mog, Nag and Wabo can really use Luis' help for a very special mission, but soon the whole thing degenerates into a big adventure, at the end of which Luis has to ask himself if he should really stay on Earth.
There's a very basic problem I have with current animated films: there are very few films left that have a look all their own. Most works, however, just blithely copy from each other. Especially the people look almost always the same. Creativity and an own character often fall by the wayside. Unfortunately, this also applies to Luis and the aliens. At least a nice story is told here. It's not exactly original either and lives from completely overdrawn characters. But for children the adventures of little Luis and his alien friends are quite amusing and also exciting.
Mag, Nag and Wabo, who really only come to Earth to buy a very specific product they saw on a shopping channel during their space cruise, are really funny characters - especially when they take on a different guise. Sure, the humour is very simple and some of the gags fall a bit flat. But all in all, the team around Wolfgang and Christoph Lauenstein has staged an entertaining fantasy adventure, which can even come up with a really exciting finale.
This was a bit too exciting for very young viewers, though, so the version shown to the press and some invited children has been toned down a bit. I would recommend the cinema visit to children from 5 years. They will experience a lot of fun, some suspense and decent animation, which is not quite on the level of the big brothers from Disney, Pixar or Dreamworks, but can still convince all along the line. Nice entertainment with cute jello aliens and therefore also deserves: Worth seeing!
