Movie: This is typical for Stefan Vollmer (Hendrik Duryn) and his colleague Karin Noske (Jessica Ginkel): Finally, the two are a couple, then immediately announced offspring. It happened so fast that the child could theoretically be Karin's ex Michael (Gabriel Merz), who of all people is also Stefan's best friend. But even after the birth has gone well and the paternity has been clarified, the chaos continues for both of them - neither privately nor professionally. As soon as Karin returns to school from her maternity leave, her new colleague Patrick Petzold (Eugen Bauder) falls head over heels in love with her. But Stefan also has a new admirer. Will their relationship survive young parenthood and new temptations? Will Stefan and Karin finally end up at the altar?

The Teacher is a rather unusual success story in the series landscape. When the series first started in 2009, the ratings were rather lukewarm, so it looked like this would also remain the only season of the series. But thanks to good reviews and the firm belief in the concept, four years later new episodes were commissioned, which then brought quite decent viewer numbers. Now, the turbulent school life of Stefan Vollmer and his colleagues is already entering its sixth season - and the ratings continue to rise. The makers have changed little in the concept over the years: there is some comedy spiced with slapstick, a little romance and plenty of drama infused with social criticism.

Beauty crazes, ADHD, inclusion, arranged marriages, stalkers - the issues addressed this season are once again extremely diverse and definitely drawn from life. But the problem is once again that - for all their good intentions - they are treated too superficially. Often, all it takes is one speech from Stefan and the whole thing is good again. Unfortunately, real life doesn't look like that. The fact that the episodes not only focus on the romance between Stefan and Karin, but also try to deal with quite normal worries, fears and problems of teenagers is well-intentioned. Only the implementation should perhaps not have been quite so superficial.

But at least The Teacher manages in its own way to address grievances and problems that are otherwise hardly addressed. And that is more than commendable. But in the end, of course, the whole thing is first and foremost a light entertainment series meant to be fun for its target audience. And here the sixth season delivers again more than satisfactorily. So if you already liked the first seasons, you should definitely shorten your wait for season 7 with this DVD box set. Worth watching!

Image + Sound: The audiovisual realization of the series on this DVD is again on a good TV level in this season. The picture is clean, the overall sharpness is satisfactory and the detail presentation can also convince in many moments. Colors are powerfully mixed, with contrasts appearing a bit overblown at times, but this seems to be an intentional stylistic device. The audio, presented in a Dolby Digital 2.0 mix, is primarily dominated by the dialogue, but every now and then the music, minor sound effects and ambient noises also provide a coherent atmosphere. Good.

Extras: The third DVD features a roughly 20-minute compilation of interview clips and behind-the-scenes footage. The individual clips are too short to really offer any substantial information. Nevertheless, there are some interesting, but also amusing moments to discover here. That's why this extra gets a decent: worth watching!

Conclusion: The sixth season of The Teacher consistently spins the successful concept of the series. Who already liked the first five seasons, can enjoy here the new developments in the relationship of Stefan and Karin, new turbulence at the school and of course again Stefan's unconventional teaching methods. This is also in the new episodes not particularly profound, but quite charming and entertaining implemented. The twelve episodes shine on three DVDs in good picture and sound quality. And there is also some behind-the-scenes material as a bonus. Absolutely recommendable for fans!
