André Rieu - The Great Birthday Tour
There is hardly a world star who inspires fans of every age group and every nationality worldwide as much as André Rieu. For over thirty years, the charismatic Dutchman has toured the world with his orchestra! Now he has a very special surprise in store for his German fans: on 1 October he celebrates his 70th birthday and from January onwards he will be going on a big birthday tour throughout Germany. Fans can look forward to sixteen romantic, festive concert evenings with a very special program consisting of the most beautiful titles from film, musicals, opera and, of course, many wonderful waltzes.
André Rieu firmly believes that classical music was written not only for an elite, but for everyone. He is therefore rightly hailed as the "maestro of the masses" by the New York Times. In Germany, he will be accompanied by his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra (the largest private orchestra in the world, by the way), his choir, international sopranos and, of course, the Platinum Tenors.
2018 was the Dutch violinist and conductor's most successful year, with more than 700.000 tickets sold worldwide - and more than 600,000 tickets have already been sold for his ongoing 2019 world tour - Rieu will be performing in countries including the Netherlands, Colombia, Chile, Spain and Portugal this year. He dreams of one day performing on the moon.
