A month full of public holidays lies ahead of us and with it the opportunity for extended day trips.

For all those staying at home during the May holidays, Frankfurt Airport offers a way to get a taste of the big wide world without having to pack suitcases beforehand:

Visitor Center

In the multimedia Fraport Visitor Center in Terminal 1, Departure Hall C, next to Gate C1, things get informative and eventful. Here you can take a look behind the scenes of a major airport at numerous stations. Highlights include the new fire department exhibit, where you can put out a virtual fire, a virtual reality tour of the baggage handling system and a 55 square meter Airport City model that you can explore with the help of iPads. On the gigantic interactive LCD wall "The Globe" you can follow global air traffic in real time and guide an aircraft to its parking position using original angle bars.

Tickets from 10.00 EUR (children under 4 are free).

Visitor terrace

It's finally open again: the Visitor Terrace in Terminal 2! From here, you can watch the hustle and bustle on the apron at your leisure.

Admission to the visitors' terrace is free.

Airport tours: STARTER-TOUR & XXL-TOUR

Always a highlight are the Airport tours, which, after the unique view from the visitor terrace and the interactive stations in the visitor center, round off the trip to Frankfurt Airport perfectly.

Experience a live-moderated tour of the apron, where you drive right past the big planes. The tour guides will provide you with interesting information throughout the journey. Which is the largest aircraft to land at Frankfurt Airport? How many kilometers does a suitcase travel before it lands on the plane? Or how big are the underground fuel tanks? You will get the answers to these and many other questions on a tour of the airport. And, of course, you'll also get up close to the planes.
