At the edge of Frankfurt's city forest stands the 43-meter-high Goetheturm. It is an observation tower built of wood. The tower owes its name to the local poet Karl Heinrich Ehrt. He wrote in a poem about Goethe's walks through the city forest and called the place where the famous poet looked down on the city "Goethes Ruh". The Goetheturm has 196 steps and is a popular destination for families also because of the large attached forest play park. At Christmas time, the small but fine Sachsenhausen Christmas market takes place here under the Goetheturm. Advent quiet with a view You can almost count the Christmas-decorated stalls on two hands and yet you don't have to do without anything that makes for a cosy Christmas market stroll. For culinary delights with fresh pastries such as dulce waffles and fragrant mulled wine or Äppler is definitely provided. And for the children there is also quite a bit of entertainment at the Sachsenhausen Christmas market. For those who like it personal and manageable, this is the place to be.
