Programme highlights 2024/2025
In the current season, Schauspiel Frankfurt is once again offering a diverse program:
With "Faust 1 & 2" and Ingmar Bergman's "Scenes from a Marriage", it will present a new program on the weekend of 19. to 22 September at the Schauspielhaus. The motto of the 2024/2025 season is "Longing". The science fiction story "Solaris" tells of the extent to which longing stimulates a search into outer space. Enchanted forests, hauntings, delusions and fantastic counter-worlds - these romantic motifs of longing can be found in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream", Astrid Lindgren's "Ronja the Robber's Daughter", E.T.A. Hoffmann's "The Sandman" and in a comedic rewrite of "Don Quixote". In "The Great Gatsby", the focus is on resistance to and dependence on the propertied class. With Arthur Miller's "A View from the Bridge", the working-class milieu of New York in the 1950s is shown on stage.
The Schauspiel Frankfurt is the largest spoken theater in the Rhine-Main region and enjoys a great deal of attention throughout Germany as a distinguished stage. In the four venues - Schauspielhaus, Kammerspiele, Box and Bockenheimer Depot - renowned directors present both classics and contemporary drama. In addition to the productions, Schauspiel Frankfurt creates spaces for encounters, discussions and exhibitions in the BOX, the Panorama Bar and the Chagallsaal. Here, artists can present themselves, audiences can ask questions and the citizens of the city can get into conversation with each other.
