A play by Paolo Genovese
With: Rosa Alice Abruscato, Elisabeth Ebner, Carolin Freund, Maja Müller, Fabian Goedecke, Thomas Jansen, Thomas M. Peters, Ralf Stech
The story, which has already been successfully staged as a feature film in several countries (including Germany) now comes to the stage. Directed by Frank Lorenz Engel, the clever relationship comedy can be seen at the Fritz Remond Theater until January 15. And that's what it's about:
Three women. Four men. Seven phones. And the question: how well do these friends and couples really know each other? As they discuss honesty over dinner, they decide to play a game: everyone puts their smartphones on the table, and everything that comes in is shared. Messages are read out loud, phone calls are listened to aloud, every WhatsApp, no matter how small, is shown. What begins as harmless fun soon degenerates into an emotional mess - full of surprising twists and delicate revelations. Because in the seemingly perfect circle of friends, there are more secrets and life lies than could be expected at the beginning of the game. "The idea was to sketch this secret life that we can't reveal," explained screenwriter Genovese, who also wrote the theatrical adaptation, shortly after the press screening of the eponymous film in Rome. "Until 20 years ago, our secrets were kept inside us; today they are buried in our cell phones, which have become a bit of our black boxes," he said."
