For China enthusiasts and lovers of green tea of outstanding quality, the Chá Dào in Frankfurt's Westend is an absolute must!
On November 12, 2016, the teahouse run by Gerhard Thamm was festively opened in Frankfurt. Gerhard Thamm is a China connoisseur. For 30 years he worked for the aviation industry and got around a lot. Since the 80s, Gerhard Thamm has been in China several times a year. Over the long time, friendships developed which gave him access to classical Chinese culture and tea. Thus the desire arose to devote himself entirely to this fascination and to found a tea house in Germany.
2010 Gerhard Thamm gave up his profession to open the first small teahouse in Neu Isenburg in 2013. However, it quickly became too small and fortunately for us, the Teehaus in Frankfurt now offers a large space to offer wonderful teas, culture and art, tea serving, porcelain to handmade furniture from China. Gerhard Thamm is supported by the very sympathetic Chinese Cai Bai, who is a fashion designer and has also worked intensively with the topic of tea.
In addition to teas and other products, which can also be ordered in their own online shop, there are small delicacies and fine cakes. Tea ceremonies with light food accompaniment, as well as music, are available by advance order.
The Chá Dào is an oasis of calm and indulgence in the city and more than does justice to this wonderful country and its warm people!
