Congratulations to restaurateur and DJ Julian Smith and his team: the Chinaski has been awarded the 23rd Warsteiner Gastronomy Award in the category "Beverage". With an extraordinary ambiance, constantly changing DJ sounds, cocktail variations and exclusive wines, Smith is a guarantor for happy and satisfied guests who can enjoy very special evenings there", was the jury's verdict. Anyone who has ever been to the "urban living room" near the Opernplatz will only agree with the verdict.
The large wall graffiti, the chic designer furniture, the imposing bar - all of this exudes a mixture between coziness and business, between art and naturalness. The concept "No Bar, No Disco" is as well received by the guests as it was by the jury of the German Gastronomy Award. On the one hand, this is a great place to wind down after a hard day's work, or to have a great party at the weekend. And the small, somewhat more intimate tribute bar can even be rented for quiet tastings, birthdays and other celebrations. The Chinsaki is always good for a surprise and offers a truly exceptional atmosphere. But also the smooth DJ sounds, the changing cocktail menu, the well sorted wine list or the selection of rum, scotch, whisky or gin underline the good reputation of the Chinaski. The winners in the category "Food": The Romantikhotel Goldene Traube, a traditional house with more than 400 years of history paired with innovative hospitality.
The new category "Music": "With its variety of concepts and spaces, Club Haubentaucher offers its guests an incredibly wide range of entertainment", the jury said. Jan Denecke, Daniel Lente and Azar Moorad from Berlin's neighbourhood hotspot Haubentaucher were awarded not only for the location, but also for their gastronomic versatility and the implementation of new ideas and concepts.
And finally, the 2017 Warsteiner Lifetime Achievement Award went to Jürgen Gosch, who underscores his gastronomic passion with his rise from crab poacher to top restaurateur.
