At the foot of the ECB lies the Hafenpark - a mixture of sports field and local recreation area for all Frankfurt residents. In 2009, an online survey was launched for the planning of the area, in which well over 1000 citizens participated. A planning competition was then announced, which was won by the Berlin office Sinai. Their concept was then implemented in three phases.
The first section was the 5500 square meter BMX and skater facility, which was released in 2012. Part two was the sports strip comprising two basketball courts, two multifunctional sports fields, a climbing and chin-up course, fitness facilities for adults and seniors, and a children's play area. This part of the park occupies about 3500 square meters. The last section, with the completion of which the harbour park was then grandly inaugurated in July 2015, is the meadow band, which invites visitors to sunbathe, relax or picnic along the Main.
To admit, a visit to the Hafenpark is of course especially recommended in spring and summer. But even in cooler temperatures, a walk or some sporting activity here is an absolutely pleasant thing to do. That there have been repeated problems at the skater facility in the past between skilled skaters and parents who don't pay attention to the signs forbidding children to use the facility as a play and practice area is, of course, a shame. And it is to be hoped that the city will not have to resort to unsightly fencing around the facility to contain these conflicts. Because actually, Hafenpark is a pleasantly relaxed place in Frankfurt, where there really is something for everyone, no matter what age. Whether you want to play here, play sports or just relax - it's all possible here, as long as everyone sticks to the rules a bit.
It is also advisable, during a visit to the harbor park times in the Kunstverein family Monetz located in the Honsellbrücke to look past. There are regularly interesting exhibitions or events to see here. <link http: kvfm.de _blank>You can find all the info HERE
And if your stomach is rumbling after sports or a walk, you can stop off at the Oosten at the Wesel shipyard, which is just a few minutes' walk away. The view alone, which one enjoys from here, is worth a visit to the striking harbour restaurant. <link http: www.oosten-frankfurt.com _blank>You can find all the info HERE.
