(ffm) On Monday, May 28, Ursula Schmidt was awarded the Citizen's Medal of the City of Frankfurt am Main in the Römer. Schmidt is a long-standing chairwoman of the Griesheim Association Ring, the Griesheim Regional Council and the Griesheim Culture and Leisure Promotion Association. The city has now honored her for her outstanding civic work.
"People like Ursula Schmidt are the cornerstones of community life. For almost four decades, she has been doing a great deal for her district of Griesheim and the people in her neighbourhood. Such commitment cannot be taken for granted," praised Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann. "I would like to thank you, Ms. Schmidt, and wish you continued enjoyment in your voluntary activities in the future. I wish Frankfurt citizens who take Ursula Schmidt as an example. Stand up for your city, for your neighborhood! Because together, a lot can be moved."
The Citizen's Medal can be awarded to volunteers working in Frankfurt associations and institutions if they have either made an outstanding contribution to the common good through their work or have shown special commitment to association work over many years. Up to five citizen medals are awarded per year
