Frankfurt Oktoberfest 2024 ceremonially opened: 'O'zapft is!'

The 14th Frankfurt Oktoberfest began on Wednesday with the traditional "O'zapft is!". Until 13 October, the Hessian metropolis will once again be transformed into a center of Oktoberfest fun, with traditional costumes, music and typical Hessian-Bavarian specialties. Minister President Boris Rhein opened the festival in the tent in front of Deutsche Bank Park by tapping the first barrel of the specially brewed festival beer from Binding. Around 2,500 guests joined in the celebrations, supported by Oktoberfest ambassador Alessandra "Sandy" Meyer-Wölden.

Meyer-Wölden was delighted: "I grew up with the Oktoberfest in Munich and am delighted to be an ambassador for the Frankfurt Oktoberfest this year. The people of Hesse have proven that they can really celebrate Oktoberfest." Entertainment was provided by TV comedian Oliver Pocher, who hosted the Maßkrugstemmen, as well as musicians such as Mickie Krause and the Frankfurt Oktoberfest Band, who got the audience dancing.

Culinary highlights and a varied program

In addition to the traditional festival beer, this year's Oktoberfest offers an expanded menu that appeals to both meat lovers and vegans. New additions include braised ox cheeks and venison goulash, as well as vegan beet dumplings with wild mushroom ragout. As a sweet highlight, there is "Frisch Auszog'ne" with apple rice cream.

The musical line-up is also diverse. In addition to well-known greats such as Roy Hammer and Mickie Krause, party hit singers such as Isi Glück, Almklausi and Schürze will be performing for the first time. An innovation is the replacement of the Frankfurt Oktoberfest Band by the Hessian band "... a band called WANDA" after half-time of the festival.

Maßkrugstemmen and competitions

The traditional Maßkrugstemmen takes place every evening, with attractive prizes to be won. Sponsor Villa Resorts is providing three seven-day flights, which will be raffled off to the winners of the Maßkrugstemmen and one other lucky ticket holder.

Tickets and charity

Tickets are still available via the Frankfurt Oktoberfest website and at advance booking offices. As in previous years, one euro per ticket sold will go to the Fly & Help foundation, which supports the construction of schools in the Dominican Republic. The first school financed with donations from the Frankfurt Oktoberfest 2022 will open in October.
