The spring Dippemess in Frankfurt promises thrills on an unprecedented scale. Under the direction of Thomas Feda, Managing Director of Tourismus und Congress Frankfurt, this year's folk festival is rising to new heights - literally. Next Friday, the Dippemess opens its doors, which is not only being called the "Century Dippemess", but also the "highest Dippemess" that has ever taken place.
Why? Because the imposing "Fortress Tower" towers 86 meters above the Frankfurt skyline and invites daredevils to take a free fall. But this is just one of many exciting new features awaiting visitors. The giant looping swing "Infinity" with a height of 65 meters and a speed of 125 kilometers per hour will take many visitors' breath away.
But it's not just adrenaline junkies who are catered for. With a total of 126 exhibitors, including 19 spectacular rides and 13 children's attractions, the Dippemess has something for everyone. Whether it's a speedy free fall, wild loops or leisurely laps on the Ferris wheel - there's something for everyone here.
The discussion about the relocation of the Dippemess may be ongoing, but the showmen are sending out a clear signal: With their mascot "Bembli" and the online petition "Dippemess stays!" they are vehemently positioning themselves in favor of the fair remaining at Ratsweg. Alex Schramm, a long-time Dippemess participant and owner of the Breakdancer, puts it in a nutshell: "The Ratsweg is more than just a location. It is a piece of home for us showmen. The heart of the Dippemess pulsates here." Stephanie Wüst, Head of Economic Affairs, explains that the Dippemess will remain here next year. "The Dippemess will remain on Ratsweg until solutions are found at some point."
On Friday at 6 pm, the Dippemess will be officially opened by Lord Mayor Mike Josef himself. Over 500,000 visitors are expected at the spring Dippemess from March 22 to April 14.
