After more than 40 years, Frankfurt is getting a new swimming pool: the "Main Bad Bornheim" is expected to open its doors in spring. The name of the new family pool, which is being built in the immediate vicinity of the ice rink, was determined in a digital competition.
Mayor Mike Josef and Boris Zielinski, Managing Director of Frankfurter BäderBetriebe, announced the result on Tuesday, January 14. The name "Main Bad Bornheim" prevailed against strong competitors. Over 1,000 suggestions were submitted and a jury selected five favorites, which citizens were able to vote on until the end of December.
Josef was delighted with the great interest and emphasized the importance of the new pool for Frankfurt and the region. Zielinski praised the name as an expression of the connection between water and the River Main.
With the opening of the new building, the previous Panoramabad in Bornheim will close. A specific date for the opening has yet to be set, but the start is planned for spring.
