"Die Fraa Rauscher aus de Klappergass, die hot e Beul am Ei". and now also her own traffic light. Not far from the Frau Rauscher fountain and the apple wine tavern named after her, the Frau Rauscher traffic light has now been put into operation. At the on-site meeting to install the individual traffic light templates, Mayor Uwe Becker said: "Our Frau Rauscher traffic light is exactly the right signal. A Frankfurt original shows pedestrians the way to a special part of town". He then went on to emphasize that the figure of Frau Rauscher stands like no other for Frankfurt's national drink, the Ebbelwei.
This unique attraction virtually greets visitors to Alt-Sachsenhausen as they cross Elisabethenstrasse, Paradiesgasse and Kleine Rittergasse and, of course, bids them farewell again on their way home. The idea for a special traffic light in Sachsenhausen as a gateway to Alt-Sachsenhausen first came up in the summer of 2018. After testing and graphic design, it has now actually become a reality after more than a year.
"Individual traffic lights are in vogue and used selectively they can also create a targeted effect within the framework of all legal requirements - see the traffic light at the Konstablerwache," adds traffic department head Klaus Oesterling. The Rauscher traffic light is definitely an eye-catcher. And who knows, maybe more individual traffic lights will follow soon - there are enough typical Frankfurt motifs!
