Those who grew up before the iTunes generation know the very special atmosphere of the record stores that have unfortunately largely disappeared from the cityscape. Here you could browse for hours, listen to the latest discs, exchange ideas with other music enthusiasts and find real rarities. Sure, browsing and listening works on download and streaming portals, too. But it's quite another thing to experience it not only with your ears, but also with your hands and eyes. Holding a record cover in your hand doesn't replace a click on the internet.
Luckily, there are still a few stores where you can still experience this feeling. The second hand record store "No 2 Records" in Sachsenhausen is such a shop. The idea was born out of a successful flea market stall, from which the first version of "No2" emerged in 1984. But the shop space quickly became too small, which led to the move to the current store. Here about 50,000 sound carriers are offered on 120 square meters. Besides records and CDs, you can also find a large selection of used DVDs and Blu-rays. And there is even a small corner with vintage design objects.
As soon as you enter the store, you feel that a real enthusiast is at work here. Everything is well sorted, clearly laid out and very appealing. There is a relaxed atmosphere here, where browsing is really fun. It is very nice that you can listen to the records before you buy them - just like in the good old days of record shops. Whether rock, pop, classical music, soundtracks, indie, heavy metal, hip hop, techno, oldies, country or world music - there is quite a comprehensive offer in almost every musical subject. Among them are also some real treasures, about which one is really happy as a vinyl lover.
"No 2 Records" offers its customers not only nostalgia, but expertise, quality and fair prices. So if you are looking for a certain record or CD, a nice gift or just want to enjoy the atmosphere of such a store again, you should definitely pay this great shop a visit.
