A beautiful project is spreading
In November 2009, a project started at Merianplatz that has since become firmly established in the cityscape and can be found in more and more places in more and more parts of the city: the open bookcase. The concept of the "world's smallest library" is as simple as it is ingenious: instead of throwing books away or letting them gather dust on the bookshelf, citizens can place books that they no longer read themselves in the open bookcases. There they can be borrowed or taken away by other bookworms who, in return, put one of their old books back. With only one exception so far, the bookcases are open around the clock and anyone can put books worth reading in or take them with them.
