Frankfurt gets a light

Frankfurt gets a light
Frankfurt gets a light
Frankfurt gets a light

Is it just me? When I turn the corner coming from the north at the height of Friedberg and the skyline appears on the horizon, my heart leaps for joy. When I drive over the Ignaz-Bubis-Bridge coming from Sachenhausen and the skyline appears, it throbs quite violently. (All traffic-safe, of course, when the light is red. Otherwise, the view is fixed and rigid on the road, in case the traffic police is reading along here, which would be nice ;-) ) Well, anyway, I think it's clear what I'm getting at. Frankfurt is an exceptionally beautiful city that conquers you. By day, but even more so by night. What it could show last during the celebration of the reunification. The light show in front of the sparkling skyscraper panorama was breathtaking.

Breathtaking moments also await us this week! Because in the context of the trade fair "light + building" Frankfurt and Offenbach shine at night at the Biennale of Light Culture, called <link http: light-building.messefrankfurt.com frankfurt de besucher events _blank>"Luminale" for short: prominent buildings like the main station is illuminated from nightfall both the hall and the vestibule surprise with an installation. Galleries shine with exhibitions, Industriepark Höchst invites you to a guided tour on the production of light, multimedia - video installations in all places.
One of the highlights of the Luminale is the light installation in the Katharinenkirche at the Hauptwache as well as the audiovisual kinetic light installation in the Mousonturm. But that's not all: in showrooms, museums, parks and unusual locations, Light + Building exhibitors, lighting designers, architects, artists and initiatives will be presenting their imaginative lighting projects at the eighth Biennale of Light Culture.
In a nutshell: around 200 lighting events will transform Frankfurt into a world city of light.

For photography enthusiasts, the guided tour of the city by bus from Paulsplatz is a good idea. For those who enjoy walking, meet for a city walk by appointment in front of Café Hauptwache. Independent spirits can be chauffeured by the Luminale bus from the City Messe entrance via the Museumsufer to Osthafen and then on to the German National Library, ending at the Senckenberg Museum in Bockenheim. The bus runs every 15 minutes and also offers the opportunity to get on and off the bus. So there is enough time to enjoy the light art and to marvel at Frankfurt from March 13 to 18. By the way, my personal favourites are the light shows at the Wallanlagen, at the Hafenpark in the Ostend as well as the installation "Man in the Moon", at the Römerberg. See you there!
