"Ice cold, frozen, frosty, freezing, fresh and chilly"-when the dog days hit like they have this week, all that's left is the power of thought to keep the heat at bay. Because my yoga teacher used to say to us when we were moaning about the heat while practicing, "Think cool thoughts". And what can I tell you? It worked. When I imagine six scoops of ice cream, think of how fresh and cool they melt on my tongue, at least for two minutes I'm not plagued by the heat that now pushes the thermometer beyond tolerable for man, cat, dog.
Who now thinks that this is esoteric stuff, may believe it. But I would like to kindly point out that I live in an attic apartment without outside blinds and air conditioning, whereas currently this already feels like "survival". Since we rarely have fully air-conditioned apartments or school buildings in Germany, don't wear white caftans to work, I have to somehow save myself through these dog days.
Where is it shady, fresh and cool in Frankfurt?
So whenever possible, I spend a lot of time in the air-conditioned car, dog included. (I may at this point gladly pass on the warnings of the Animal Welfare Association that dogs are not to be left in the car under any circumstances, ever. Not even for a few minutes. But I'm sure that goes without saying). What also goes without saying is that in temperatures like this, I immediately close the windows tightly in the morning and don't open them again until after the sun goes down in the evening. By the way, <link https: www.frankfurt.de sixcms media.php _blank>The city of Frankfurt has compiled important behavioral measures during the heat.
Shady places are found in Frankfurt thanks to the beautiful parks yes a lot and also water features. By the way, also at the Roßmarkt. Where else it is nice <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de insidefrankfurt s shopping schoen-schattig-frisch-und-kuehl.html _blank>shady, fresh and cool, you can read here.
But even better is a trip to the Taunus, because in the forest it is always a few degrees less. So instead of 32 degrees, it's only 30 degrees. Even the city forest can offer a little coolness. Inside I like to refresh myself with loads of melon and lots of ice cream. Whereby sorbet is cooler than milk ice cream. But that's ultimately a matter of taste - the main thing is to cool down.
And a trip to the museum at the weekend provides the ultimate shade and distraction. That's what I did one summer in the south of France, when it was so hot that even going to the beach was out of the question until after 5pm. But a little trip to the<link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de specials freibaeder-und-badeseen-in-frankfurt-und-umgebung.html _blank> outdoor pool or the Badesee in Frankfurt for those who have time or want to rush into the cool water after work never hurts.
I'll say goodbye to the North Sea for now and send you a fresh breeze. But how do you survive the dog days
