Everything was going fine: coffee delicious, accommodations satisfactory, and everyone had pulled together to make it through the family visit in one piece. All was well until my brother mentioned the bad word: selfie. How selfie? We were in the middle of the woods right now, where was a fancy photo supposed to be taken in front of all these trees? To avoid sweating and panicking in the future, I made a list. Honestly! With the best locations to which I send both friends and strangers who approach me in the city. ("Which way to the skyline on the Main?") Well, any idea what will be on the note under item one???? ;-)
- This is where even New York turns green with envy: at 187 metres, a viewing platform welcomes visitors to the <link http: www.maintower-restaurant.de _blank>Main Tower. A little treat: In December, the magazine "Der Feinschmecker"" voted the MAIN TOWER RESTAURANT & LOUNGE number one among the insider tips in Frankfurt. Located on the top floor, the restaurant entices with upscale cuisine and panoramic views. (Attention: currently the platform opens again from 4 June 2016 and is still closed due to construction work.)
- Shopping inclusive: Alternatively, during the week, the restaurant on the 5th floor of the Kaufhof at the Hauptwache. The <link https: www.galeria-kaufhof.de filialen frankfurt-hauptwache _blank>GALERIA Kaufhof branch shines with a facade that is a special architectural achievement with a high-glass gallery extending over four floors with 1,500 square metres of glass surface. Over all one of the most popular photo locations for all and sundry. Be sure to count the towers that can all be seen (including church steeples!)
- Skyline anyone? At Sachsenhäuser Ufer, it flashes before you and apparently can't be beat as THE photo motif par excellence. But many like a photo from a bridge even better. (Eiserner Steg or further east, the Ignaz Bubis Bridge.) Probably because it feels like everything is visible, every bridge, all the skyscrapers, both banks of the Main and the new ECB to the east of the city.
- Weseler Werft at the foot of the European Central Bank. Main and bridges as far as the eye or camera lens can see. In the <link http: www.oosten-frankfurt.com _blank>East you can have another cocktail on the terrace and the ECB provides a modern photo finish. In the view one has in a 270 degree perspective not only river landscape and skyline, on the terrace or under plantains, but also the brand new Honsell- and the Deutschherrenbrücke.
- Well and at number five I wrestle now with myself: Hauptbahnhof or Römer? For the main station speaks that we say goodbye to family and friends right there, so already there anyway. But the building itself also makes a splendid impression. Not to be underestimated is also the aisle towards the city centre as a background with high-rise buildings. But the Römer as a historical city centre is simply a must-see. So I am undecided. What do you think? What are your favorite photo locations?
