Every year, the travel magazine "Merian" dedicates an issue to our city. And so it is currently. The magazine owes its name to the engraver Matthäus Merian, who lived in our inviting city from 1624 until his death in 1650. We have long known that it is a good place to live. But as we leafed through the pages, we noticed something that some of you may not have noticed yet. It's always summer here! Clear air! Golden towers glittering in the dusk.

· On the Römerberg beats the heart of the city, they say. Hm. So, yes, if we assume that the urban center developed from there. But if we think that a beating heart means pulsating life, then a lot of tourists bring a lot of life in front of the Römer. But who among us goes to the Roman to eat ice cream? Come in! Yes, good. The Römer is a place for public events, where all the people of Frankfurt come together. Queen Elizabeth II etc.? So we can let that stand.

· A touch of the Mediterranean on the Main. Yes! Yes! And yes! We feel belly-laughing and happy to have a little twinkle with the skyline in the dark for the photographer. Anyone else remember the reunion celebrations? Hach.

· The Städel is one of the most important art houses in Germany and thanks to the digital collection now also one of the most modern. Nothing to add to that, a visit to the Städel is always a pleasure. Currently running: Maniera. For the exhibition about the Florence of the Medici even Queen Elizabeth borrowed a painting from the collection of Windsor Castle!

· Sachsenhausen is so down-to-earth instead of chic. Yikes, so that's what we should be talking about right now. I'm happy to let that stand, but then Bornheim is a farm. Because down-to-earth is already leased from the dear neighbours on the other side of the Main. :-) And the fact that Hibbdebach and Dribbdebach like to live at a distance on two continents is a successful solution, isn't it?

· The village metaphor has been properly used: In Berger Strasse, the city becomes a village. Sachsenhausen cultivates big-city village-ness and in general Frankfurt consists of many villages. Are we all farmers then? :-)

· The new Frankfurt kitchen, the archetype of the fitted kitchen, from the Ernst-May-Haus deservedly gets its very own article. Apparently we know a thing or two about kitchens, because the Friday kitchen of the "Kulturszene" also gets a mention. Okay, let's give it a pass on account of Ernst May.

· If we feel like "Mainhattan" anyway, we're even more flattered by any further comparisons to the Big Apple. Merian doesn't let itself down and turns Frankfurt into "Brooklyn". That's a bit unfair, because the New York Times already gave this comparison to little Bornheim. "Once Merry Now Cool". Are you telling me that Frankfurt is Bornheim? Hmm, we're still guessing.

What do you think? How village-like is Frankfurt? And what do you associate with the different parts of town?
