Let's face it: we are not asked. Neither privately nor otherwise, the self-centered environment is interested in our brilliant ideas. If someone would ever ask us, everyday life would be smooth in no time. I think. Thinks my neighbour. Who of course also has his ideas. But no one asks him. Even the baker doesn't want to listen anymore when he complains about the lack of parking spaces in front of his house. When he rants on and on about the advantages that residents' parking would have for his own street. Who is listening to the poor man?
Who is listening to us? Us and our ingenious ideas? Because let's be honest: better than "The Donald" (we're talking about Donald Trump, one of the candidates for the presidency in the American election campaign), that is, better than him, we've long been in speech-making. Has also thought an initiative eastern district Bornheim. The Bornheimers like to set a good example anyway and let their fellow citizens have their say. Because the beautiful and livable "village" should become even more beautiful. But at least it should remain as beautiful as it is. Anyone who wanders through the streets day after day knows what pleases or bothers them. This includes, for example, the beloved Berger Street. What is to be done with it?
Known, asked, done. Following the English model of the "Speakers Corner" at the Fünffingerplätzchen, everyone should be able to hold a speech and get their ideas off their chest. (The square is a curiosity specific to the district, as five streets meet here: Rendeler/Heide/Berger/Ringelstraße and Löwengasse. But that's just a side note :-) But unlike in London and at the bakery, here politicians of the local council 4 also listen and write diligently. The whole thing is part of the marketing campaign "Lust auf Leben - Willkommen in Bornheim". The most visible action so far: the oases with wooden boards and plants. Unlike in Bockenheim, where Leipziger Strasse had less to offer in terms of shopping and quality of life after the department store closed, the people of Bornheim want to spare the affected residential and business section a similar fate after the loss of the Saturn department store on Berger Strasse. Shopping should be worthwhile. Or do we all shop too much anyway and need something completely different in the city districts? If you have an opinion on this, you can make speeches every first Saturday of the month in the future. Just send an email to <link>Kontakt@kulturpur.de with your idea.
