Where to go on Sunday I often ask myself. Then good advice is expensive. Because although Frankfurt offers so many possibilities, I can't think of any. I have my own personal criteria for a successful Sunday excursion: it should be as beautiful as the Main and there should be lots of water. Every child knows today that relaxing in nature with trees and lots of greenery is much better. So please, the destination should also have green things to offer. When I have done my rounds and earned a reward, the range of coffee houses should not leave much to be desired.
*Must be located at the water
*offer a lot of green and nature around
*offer decent coffeehouses
*must like to have sights as well
Not so easy. Because I don't always feel like driving far either. Especially in autumn after the time change it gets dark earlier and therefore colder. Then walking around is no fun anymore.
Well, what can I say? Just last Sunday I was again at the romantic enchanted Nidda in Höchst. The highlight of the day is the small rapids. A little further away there is another barrage. And in Höchst it is always worthwhile to visit the Bolongaro Palace in baroque style or the old town.
Some time ago I already told about the<link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de insidefrankfurt s shopping wir-fliegen-in-den-mai-der-ideale-ausflugstipp-fuer-alle.html _blank> trip to the old airfield Bonames; also there the Nidda flows past, because it flows to Frankfurt from the Vogelsberg. Formerly squeezed into a narrow bed, today the Nidda rushes freely again and naturally from Bad Vilbel to Bonames. Incidentally, remnants of floodplain landscapes can also be seen along the Main near Fechenheim and Schwanheim. South of the Berger Ridge lie former oxbow lakes of the Main. Those who are particularly interested in urban waters and oxbow lakes can find a brochure with more information at the City of Frankfurt.
By the way, make a note for 2017: the <link http: niddastrand.de contact-approach _blank>Nidda beach will open again next summer in Nied!
