Quite casual: the Californian moments in Frankfurt

Quite casual: the Californian moments in Frankfurt
Quite casual: the Californian moments in Frankfurt
Quite casual: the Californian moments in Frankfurt

The vacation is over, the longing is there. Of course I want to keep my Californian moments in my everyday life in Frankfurt. The photos are finally sorted, the key chains given away. The new shorts are already resting neatly tucked away with all the bikinis in the basement; the beach-feeling bangs are calling for a trim.

For long autumn evenings, the illustrated book by architect Julius Schulman, who coined the classic image of the Californian desert city of Palm Springs with its bungalows, palm trees and metre-high cacti, is already waiting The memory of the dry heat of the desert city, the eternal stomping ground of Hollywood's rich and beautiful like Leonardo Di Caprio today and Frank Sinatra in the past, is still well in my mind on the way to the subway. Also marveling at the fact that the fire department is not red, but white. You can't get more light than that.

Nearly three and a half weeks in the Californian homeland still resonate in the home office; a round birthday with fleet parade, sunset on the beach of San Diego hearty with burritos and canned beer in the paper bag - because open alcohol is forbidden on the beach, but nobody cares about the bag contents. After the jetlag is before the longing and so a little bit of California may now move into the everyday life. But is that even possible in Frankfurt?

With a little imagination everything is possible: San Diego is the city of beer. Craft beer productions and festivals can be found everywhere. There is also something going on in the city on the Main: because <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de ffm-aktuell s ugc craft-beer-festival-am-0110-und-02102016.html _blank>Frankfurt is slowly catching up with craft beer. My personal favorite pub is still <link http: braustil.de _blank>the former gas station on Oeder Weg "Braustil". The service leaves a bit to be desired, depending on who is there. But I still dream of beer with honey.

In the fall, another bit of California lightness? Nothing could be easier with the "Zinfandel" of the Gallo family from Nappa Valley, which every well-stocked supermarket happily carries.

At this point, I'll put the cloak of silence over the Mexican food on offer here with us; now that's not snobby either, but my experience. But, what always goes well, are burgers. Just pop down to Textor Street for a taste at "Good Fellas"; Hollywood swings included. J

If you want to maintain or even just brush up on your English skills, the Volkshochschule is always the place to go, for the verbal reminder trip. Whether chatting on a fashion tour or discussing the American presidential election in a conversation course, the offer is wide-ranging.

In return, I bring the Californian fauna with cacti back to my heart in the greenhouse of the Palm Garden.

Yes, but the beach, connoisseurs will now object. Yes, but the beach, I will answer then. It can now be found in the new "Beach Gym" of the TG Bornheim. Right next to the "Water Gym" - with a waterfall in the wall. I still have to test whether the sun sets there in such a relaxed way. I'm not back yet!
