Valentine's Day! But how romantic is Frankfurt?

Valentine's Day! But how romantic is Frankfurt?
Valentine's Day! But how romantic is Frankfurt?

Funnily enough, Valentine's Day coincides with Ash Wednesday. That was a day that used to depress me a bit when I was younger, because all the merriment had to be there then. I know that many point to the "commercialism" of Valentine's Day, which is unfair to poor Valentine. After all, he deserves his name day too.

Besides, it's up to me what I make of the day, isn't it? Oddly enough, I appreciate traditions more the older I get. (Anyone else feel this way?)

So why not take some really nice time to spend with loved ones? Whether it's right next Wednesday or over the weekend is up to you. But there is nothing against a romantic walk, a cozy dinner or a cozy coffee. :-)

How romantic is Frankfurt?

But how romantic is Frankfurt actually? Bank towers, train station district? At first glance, our city on the Main seems to exude anything but a romantic vein.

But a closer, second look reveals that an evening stroll along the Main could hardly be more beautiful. Even when it's so freakishly cold. Then the warming living room is all the more attractive afterwards. Walk in Goethe's footsteps to the Gerbermühle and imagine how the poet spent intimate moments with Marianne von Willemer, who lived there.

But back to the living room are - my favorite place for an afternoon coffee is just "Amelies Wohnzimmer" in Sachsenhausen. The name says it all. Delicious coffee is served attentively with a funny bear face in the foam, granny's service and velvet armchairs invite to a stimulating chat. An inviting place for long afternoons.

If you really want to treat yourself and your loved one - <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de insidefrankfurt s shopping fuenf-funde-fuer-einen-famosen-januar-hummer-hotel-und-humor.html _blank>you know about my weakness for hotels - you can spend a stylish evening at Villa Kennedy. The ambience alone is worth a detour - the reference to J.F.K and the modern interior exudes its own charming charm and the tempting 4-course menu invites you to forget about everyday life. By the way, I find it very romantic that Frankfurt comes in third in the ranking of gourmet cities. It offers its inhabitants almost seventy gourmet restaurants, the French search engine "Likibu" has found out.

But the question of how romantic is Frankfurt drives me regularly, so I had already written <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de _blank>5 things that make life even more romantic. (Eintracht fans watch out :-)) If you're looking for gifts, check out the post right now.

What to give to Valentine?

Other than that, I personally don't have it so much with big gifts - it's all about the attention. So I'm happy as punch to receive flowers. Always. A Valentine's card hand-delivered with them - romance can be so easy. You think giving flowers is so yesterday? You're wrong. It's so today. <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de insidefrankfurt s shopping fuenf-gute-gruende-um-genau-jetzt-blumen-zu-verschenken.html _blank>And here you'll find my favorite shops.

I polled girlfriends and they all lit up at the prospect of a beautiful bouquet. As for what I'm gifting my spouse, I can't reveal it here for reasons of secrecy. But take a look at the chocolates here. Whereby: nothing connects as much as laughing together. So how about a ticket for the current Robert Gernhardt exhibition on his 80th birthday at the caricatura museum?

So, what do you think: Valentine's Day - top or bottom? And what are your tips for a romantic togetherness? Can Frankfurt "romantic"?
