Winter, now what?

01.02.2019 | 08:45 Clock | Frankfurt
Winter, now what?
Winter, now what?
Winter, now what?

All Weather! I usually like winter a lot. Basically. I don't mind cold - it gets the circulation going - nor do I mind dark and wet. Purely in theory.

Stupidly, my idea of winter in our latitudes almost never happens. Blue skies, a little wagging over the slopes, and then off to Aprés ski. Not that I ski at all. But that cliché plays havoc in my head.every winter again ;-)

While 2019 was off to a good start. The first resolutions were made, everything better, everything more relaxed approach - you know, the usual. And then calendar week five entered my life: First thing Monday morning, I locked myself out of my phone. Zack, I checked my daily calendar next to find I'd forgotten an appointment.

But the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back was doing laundry. It's just across the street to the laundromat. But the way there had it in itself: snow, rain, both together and then: wind. Have I ever told you that I loathe wind?

Anyway, my patience with winter was at an end as sleet whipped boldly and boldly at me. From that moment on, I had officially entered the winter blues phase.

My favorites to combat the winter blues

But clearly, I'm not alone. Because according to annually recurring studies, the winter blues assail every fourth German. The persistent darkness, the lack of light are known to depress the mood. So what to do about the bad mood?

I was cheered up in no time by a visit to a restaurant on Sunday evening. But not just any restaurant. No. It had to be my favorite meal. Because South American friends recommended a very good restaurant to me. The Fonda de Santiago. Of course I wanted to try it out immediately!

That's the good thing about winter. Being able to sit inside together nicely at the table. Cosy light, wine and ---well, spending too much time sitting in your own four walls doesn't do any good. Going out is the trump card!

Mexican food is one of my favorites. And as it is with preferences, one's own ideas are very special.

Whether African, Persian, whatever - everyone likes it to be as authentic as possible. And this recommendation was really a winner: Aztec impact, mega margaritas and friendly service. Reservations recommended!

The food is spicy, but not crazy spicy. The benefit of spicy food in the winter? It gets the circulation going,

Always remember: Life is a Cabaret

But besides good food, I also think it's important in this weather: get out, have fun, experience something again. This can be done very well at the English Theater. A student told me yesterday that she has never been there.

Now she is moving back to Hamburg and has never been able to experience their great shows. That's a shame. Because we really do have a brilliant house in place here. And I say that deliberately and thoughtfully.

Not only because of the fantastic plays I would like to recommend the theatre to you. But also because the professional actors from London or New York promise an unforgettable evening.

There is also the stage itself. You should have seen for yourself what varied worlds are created there on the boards. Otherwise you probably won't believe me!

My personal insider tip: If you order your drink for the break at the James Bar at the beginning of the performance, the drink will be waiting for you in time. More to tempting events you will find of course as always reliably <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de veranstaltungen.html _blank>here on Frankfurt-Tipp.

But if you are so not without nature in winter, I just remembered a wonderful trip. You guys in the mood for a winter vacation? A little short trip in the snow? Ever thought about the Wasserkuppe and the Rhön? In just under an hour twenty is snow and toboggan still really good.

How do you experience the winter? And what tips do you have against the winter blues?
