What started as a crazy idea as part of a series of events at the Brotfabrik has now become a permanent fixture in Frankfurt's cultural calendar: The Green Sauce Festival! Since 2008, the festival has always taken place in May at Frankfurt's Roßmarkt. The initiators Maja Wolff and Torsten Mueller create it thereby again and again, both culinary, as well as in things master program first-class to be able to serve up.
Nearly 50 hessian Gastronomen prove on 7 days their ability around the preparing of the 7 herbs. Tasted are the different gourmet creations of 600 guests per evening in the large festival tent. True to Hessian tradition, eggs and potatoes will be served, and a free choice of beverages will also be available. At the end of the evening, voting cards will be drawn and the audience will vote for the "Best Green Sauce" of the evening. The 7 daily winners will then compete in a grand finale and guests will vote for the overall festival winner.
The culinary competition is embedded in a changing cultural evening program featuring guest artists from comedy, cabaret and music. Tickets for the evening events are often booked months in advance. But that's no reason to stay away from the festival.
Because around the marquee on the Roßmarkt to the Hauptwache, a beautiful market takes place daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., which attracts not only the festival visitors. Here the city meets in the lunch break or after work to enjoy green sauce in different variations, cider and other delicacies.
