Update: The branch in the Sanhofpassage has unfortunately already closed on 25.03.! However, you can still enjoy the burritos in Varrentrappstr.
When you think of Mexico, things like chili con carne or sierra tequilla often come to mind - things that are rather unknown in Mexico itself. For Ivan Chumacero, owner of Bulli Burrito, it's a matter of bringing the real Mexico to his guests - at least on a culinary level. Initially, he tackled this with his cozy eatery in Bockenheim and the Bulli Burrito food truck. And it worked so well that not only was he certified by a special edition of the Kabel 1 show "Mein Lokal, Dein Lokal" that he offers his guests the best burritos in town. And his delicacies are so well-received by customers, too, that Chumacero expanded last year and was able to open a second location in the middle of downtown.
On the menu at Bulli Burrito, of course, are burritos, those large wheat tortillas filled with Mexican rice, beans, cheese, and your choice of filling and salsa. There is a vegetarian version as well as Pollo (chicken marinated with Mexican spices), Cochinita (pork with spices from the Yucaton), Chipotle (minced meat) or Barbacoa, a special grilled meat from Latin America, which is slowly cooked for many hours. Add to that the salsa, which for Chumacero is the real secret to spice. Those who don't like it quite so spicy opt for the Salsa Verde. On the other hand, if you love fiery food, choose the Salsa Roja. As an alternative, there is of course also guacamole.
All these ingredients are served here optionally without tortillas in a bowl or as a salad. They are accompanied by Mexican craft beer or soft drinks. The atmosphere in both shops, but especially in the restaurant in Bockenheim, which can also be rented for parties, is very friendly and cozy. The burritos are pleasantly spicy and you can taste that fresh ingredients are used here. Whether for the small hunger in between or as a filling main meal, a visit to Bulli Burrito is always recommended!
