Sweet, fruity and not too heavy with pleasant acidity, that's the taste of the cider that was awarded on 19. January 2015 to the "Laternche-Schobbe 2015" by the jury of experts at the Ebbelweiprob' was selected.
The family press house Possmann had traditionally, now already for the 35th time.For the 35th time, the family-owned Possmann press house had invited renowned Frankfurt cider producers, expert guests and the well-known active members of the "Laterncher" to the annual "Ebbelwei-Prob'".
A "süffiger" Schobbe is the winner
"This year, six different Schobbe of the good harvest 2014 are here for you to choose from, which our cellar masters have selected for blind tasting with subsequent voting for you. You have before you a cross-section of our best, self-pressed, autumn apple wines from the local region of very good quality," explained Managing Director Peter Possmann at the beginning of the event.
The 50 or so illustrious, expert guests then tasted one Geripptes after the other to sample the various apple wines.
The verdict was quick and unambiguous, with over 50%. "The 23/7 ended up being the favorite of a large portion of those in attendance and was crowned the winner -Schobbe.
"It has a great taste, is drinkable and what is also important at our sessions, it is not too heavy. You can drink plenty of it," said Daniel Gottwald, 1st chairman of the Carneval Club Laternche (CCL). This was also the opinion of Peter Possmann, who had also personally favored this Schoppen from his deep sandstone cellars.

"23/7 will be the barrel for our seven Laternche sessions," Daniel Gottwald announced with satisfaction the result of the tasting. "This quaffable Schobbe, will both pure as well as spritzed our approximately 4,000 carnival revellers wonderfully taste and bring lasting mood." The award-winning apple wine will be served at all seven Ebbelwei sessions of the CCL, which will take place from 02-14 February 2015 in the Saalbau Titusforum in Frankfurt. According to cellar master Martin Henke, Possmann will provide a sufficient supply of about 100 barrels of 50 liters each so that the throats of the carnival audience do not dry out.
