Light and tasty - The SALÄDCHEN in the Westend

Light and tasty - The SALÄDCHEN in the Westend

Category: Fast & Slow-Food

Whoever is out and about in the Westend and looking for a light, if possible also healthy meal, is in good hands at the SALÄDCHEN on Bockenheimer Landstraße. The small chain, which now has eleven branches in Cologne, Marburg, Giessen, Freiburg or Dortmund, among other places, also has two locations in Frankfurt: one at the airport and one in the Westend. The small store exudes a very cozy atmosphere. You can sit here on sofas and armchairs and have your salads, wraps, baked potatoes or soups. The whole thing is kept in white and green, which in conjunction with the lovingly playful equipment fits very well with the concept of the SALÄDCHEN family.

The concept is quite simple: in addition to some ready-made variants that are available for selection, you can also compose your salad individually here. As a basis there is a mixture of leaf salads or noodles - or for those who like both, also a half-and-half variant. In addition, there are about 30 different basic ingredients such as carrots, corn, Gouda, mushrooms or bean sprouts, as well as several special ingredients from shrimp to chicken teriyaki to dried tomatoes, mozzarella or walnuts. There are also several homemade dressings to choose from, including a classic balsamic dressing, but also curry mango, honey mustard or a vegan dressing Sylter Art.

Instead of a salad, however, the basic and special ingredients can also be chosen as the contents for wraps of spicy wheat patties or as an addition to delicious baked potatoes. In addition, there are also changing soups and sweet desserts for the small or larger hunger. The price-performance ratio is okay, even if one could argue, especially with some special ingredients, whether the price is really justified for the quantity offered. During our visit, we tried a mixed salad with chicken teriyaki. This is accompanied by a choice of ciabatta or multigrain rolls. The portion was quite filling for a midday snack. The ingredients were fresh and the salad was very crisp. The chicken was nice and tender and the seasoning was good but not too intense. So also the dressing and the other ingredients could still develop their flavor well.

The service was very friendly and happy to help with the selection. In the cozy ambience, the salad then also tasted really good. At lunchtime then came quite a few guests from the adjacent offices, which is why it was quickly full in the small store. If you can't get a seat inside, you can still find a few seats outside or, of course, you can take the food with you. And who has it particularly hastily, which can arrange itself its salad also on-line and fetch at the desired time directly at the cash.

Beim SALÄDCHEN convinces above all in its simplicity really ingenious concept, in addition, the conversion is quite succeeded. So you can confidently say: who is in the area and likes colorful salad variations and soups, which should definitely look past. From us there is therefore also a: recommendable!
