There are not many locations that last for years or even decades. Especially in the restaurant sector, change seems to be steadily increasing. No sooner has a new opening been reported than this place has to close its doors again. But there are some gastronomic establishments that are able to defy the constant change in the scene and that have developed into permanent institutions. One of them is the "Wunderbar" in Frankfurt-Höchst. Since 1988, it has been spoiling its guests from breakfast to a nightcap after a visit to the nearby Neues Theater Höchst or Filmforum Höchst.
In the friendly ambience of the two guest rooms, delicious breakfast offers can be enjoyed from 10 am - 3 pm. Whether it's the muesli with honey, fresh fruit and yogurt or milk for the small appetite or the gourmet breakfast for two for a more extensive breakfast - here everyone really gets their money's worth. The egg dishes made from organic eggs are also recommended. The omelette with feta cheese is particularly delicious.
The culinary concept of the Wunderbar is, in addition to the rich breakfast offer and the very extensive drinks menu, that the guest should be presented with a culinary journey through the cuisines of this world. Pasta, fish and salads are on the menu as well as soups, meat dishes and finger food. The vegetarian starter plate with, among other things, feta cheese tartare, Padano and grilled vegetables, the lime-maple drumsticks or even the salad plate with turkey breast strips in a curry coat give no cause for complaint.
It's also nice that the dining rooms are used for regularly changing art exhibitions. So the waiting time for the meal can be shortened with looking at pictures. And those who come to the Wunderbar with children will not be looked at askance by the staff. On the contrary: besides special children's dishes on the menu, there is also a children's play corner, high chairs and a baby changing table. A very family-friendly place that Ralf and Siegfried Otto have created here. For us, therefore, a clear top tip!
