Frankfurt's skyline is truly imposing - at least by German standards. Fifteen of Germany's twenty tallest buildings are located in Frankfurt, which has earned the city the affectionate nickname "Mainhattan." But the view of the skyline is also truly fascinating - especially when you can enjoy it from above. This is possible on the observation deck of one of the city's tallest buildings, the Main Tower. Actually a popular destination for tourists, every Frankfurt resident should at least take a look at his city from here. Admittedly, the platform at a height of about 200 meters is a challenge for people with a fear of heights. But soft knees and a little sweat are a price that one should be ready to pay in addition to the 9 € entrance fee.
Because the view that offers itself to one here on Frankfurt - and in particularly good weather far beyond the city limits - is absolutely spectacular. Via the foyer, where you have to buy your ticket and go through the usual security procedures, you reach the elevator that takes you to the 54th floor. From there, it's another flight of stairs up to the upper observation deck. Here, if your knees get too weak, you can either take a seat on the bench in the middle and enjoy the view from here, or venture to the edge, from where you can enjoy the full panoramic view of Frankfurt and its various districts. EZB Bank, Ginnheimer Spargel, Messeturm, the Zeil, Frankfurt's numerous bridges over the Main, the main train station - all this and much more can be marveled at from this great vantage point.
In the Main Tower, however, there is more: so there is in the 53rd and 54th floor, where once a TV studio of the hr was housed, the highest fitness club in Europe. On the 53rd floor, upscale cuisine with a spectacular view can also be enjoyed in the restaurant. In addition to the Helaba art collection, which can of course be viewed without a trip to the visitors' terrace, there is also a small souvenir store in the foyer. But especially for all Frankfurtians who love their city, of course, the viewing platform is the only real reason to pay a visit to the Main Tower times. It's really worth it!
