On 17 June 2025, Frankfurt am Main will take center stage in the world of fine dining: the MICHELIN stars will be awarded at the Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten. After stops in Karlsruhe and Hamburg, the prestigious ceremony is now returning to the metropolis on the Main - and will remain there in 2026.
"The standard of German cuisine remains high, with remarkable achievements from north to south", emphasizes Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Guide MICHELIN. The award recognizes not only the excellence of gastronomy, but also the commitment and talent of those top chefs who are constantly pushing the boundaries of culinary art.
The Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten provides a worthy setting for this award. The historic building with its impressive architecture provides a fitting backdrop for the outstanding achievements of the award-winning restaurants and chefs. In addition to the coveted stars, the Guide MICHELIN will once again award Green Stars for sustainable gastronomy, the Bib Gourmand for outstanding value for money and special awards for outstanding personalities in the industry.
Frankfurt can look back on a long culinary tradition: the "Association of Chefs" was founded here as early as 1895, followed a year later by the "International Association of Chefs". In 1900 - the year the MICHELIN Guide was born - the International Culinary Arts Exhibition was launched in Frankfurt and inspired many other major cities. DEHOGA, the umbrella organization of the German hospitality industry, also has its roots in Frankfurt.
Today, the city presents itself as one of the most dynamic culinary strongholds in the country. From traditional cider bars to avant-garde gourmet restaurants, the diversity of Frankfurt's gastronomic scene is wide-ranging. Currently, nine restaurants in the city have been awarded MICHELIN stars. "Our gastronomy is international in character and at the same time deeply rooted in Frankfurt tradition," explains Stephanie Wüst, Head of the Department of Economics, Law and City Marketing. "The star award ceremony offers a great stage to present this creative diversity to a wide audience."
The event will be broadcast live on the digital channels of the Guide MICHELIN. Up-to-date information on the award ceremony will be available on the official websites and social media. Participation in the event is by invitation only.
