On the initiative of City Councillor Annette Rinn, Head of the Department for Order, Safety and Fire Protection, the Frankfurt City Council has decided on an important change for cab traffic. From now on, fixed prices within a defined "tariff corridor" can be agreed for cab journeys ordered in advance.
The new Frankfurt cab tariff sets minimum and maximum prices per kilometer driven. Passengers can then choose whether to accept the fixed price offered or have the journey billed as usual via the taximeter.
City Councillor Rinn emphasizes that the fixed price regulation is intended to provide more planning security and transparency. It will also give cab companies the opportunity to make more flexible offers, similar to rental cars via apps. The new regulation enables passengers to find out the exact price of their journey in advance.
The fixed fare regulation comes into force six weeks after publication in the official gazette and applies throughout Frankfurt's compulsory travel area, which stretches from Friedberg in the north to Wiesbaden in the west.
