Herbsterlebnis - Tage der offenen Weinkeller im Rheingau

Herbsterlebnis - Tage der offenen Weinkeller im Rheingau

Just getting out again, enjoying beautiful scenery, good wine and nice people - that's even more important this year than ever before. So it is good news that the Rheingau winegrowers from the upper to the lower Rheingau may open their gates to the autumn experience. From 04 - 13.09.2020, all wine lovers are invited to relax and enjoy and experience exciting insights behind the scenes of the wineries. The autumn can come confidently.

Also in this difficult year, the autumn experience in the Rheingau stands for first-class wines, regional specialties and experiences around the wine. From Hochheim on the Main to Lorch on the Rhine, around 50 Rheingau winegrowers open their cellars, offering not only informative tasting opportunities, but also entertaining social programmes and the chance to casually taste the current vintage. Numerous vineyard walks provide insights from the vine in the vineyard to the tank in the cellar and thus illustrate the different philosophies of the individual winegrowers. For each winemaker processes the grapes in his own unique way.

Suitable for the autumnal season, delicacies from the respective winemaker's kitchen are offered. The heart of every gourmet beats faster.

Really delicious: The Rheingau 817

Not only vintners ensure that visitors can experience enjoyable autumn moments. The Rheingau bakeries have also joined forces for this campaign. Already in 2019, they developed a joint bread on the occasion of the Rheingau Gourmet Week - the Rheingau 817, which is now also offered for the autumn experience. The bread consists of 60% spelt and 40% rye. Vineyard herbs from the Rheingau herb landlords make the taste unmistakable. The bread is available at the branches of participating bakeries Laquai, Faust, deStalter, Preis, Schrörer, and Dries and at participating vintners. Be sure to try!

Vinothekentag

One - if not THE - highlight of the Autbsterlebnis is the Vinothekentag on 12.09.2020. Rheingau-wide, the excellent vinotheques offer a special wine experience. The programme on offer is as varied as the vinotheques themselves. Special tastings, sensory training, cellar tours, live music and much more await all those interested. The physical well-being is also catered for with culinary delicacies from the vintner's kitchen. No question: You can enjoy this day with all your senses!

Don´t drink and drive

Of course, the same applies here: If you want to enjoy wine, you should not get behind the wheel afterwards. Therefore, the Rheingau vintners and the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsbund give an enjoyable gift. On presentation of the RMV tick, guests will receive the RMV piffche at one of the participating establishments: a glass of wine 0.1l free of charge. The offer is valid for guests travelling from the entire RMV area.

"We had to do without the Rheingau gourmet weeks this year. So take advantage of the autumn experience. Enjoy the regional specialties from the vintner's kitchen and the delicious wines of the region. Taste the current vintage and look behind the scenes of the wineries," recommends Valerie Gorgus to all wine discoverers and gourmets.

Treat yourself to a trip to the Rheingau, experience regional wines, regional cuisine and regional originals of the Rheingau wine world quite informally under the applicable distance and hygiene rules.
