The Museumsuferfest is back

Three years ago the last Museumsuferfest took place. In the summer of 2020 and 2021, we had to do without probably the most famous and popular festival in Frankfurt (next to the Dippemess). But now the time has finally come: from August 26 to 28, the Museumsuferfest returns. Then 24 museums, 14 stages and around 400 stands on the banks of the Main invite visitors to celebrate Frankfurt's museum culture together. Exhibitions, special tours, hands-on activities, live music, sales booths and much more await you on the three days, which will once again attract many thousands of people to the Museumsufer.

"The past two years have not been easy for the cultural sector, for the museums, theaters, opera, the festival and event industry. So it's all the nicer that Frankfurt can once again celebrate its cultural and museum landscape for three days from August 26 to 28 with art, music, dance, sports, fun, amazing things and also a lot of new things. The Museumsuferfest is one of the largest and most diverse cultural events of its kind," said Department of Culture Ina Hartwig during a press conference on the Museumsuferfest.

After two failed festivals, the return of the Museumsuferfest means that all participating museums will again offer unique insights into their houses and gardens with great organizational effort and many different creative perspectives and approaches. There is guaranteed to be something for everyone - just like the colorful program on the 14 stages, which will feature live music of various genres, as well as comedy, dance, cooking demonstrations or even scientific experiments. Because the guest of honor at the Museumsuferfest 2022 is the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences with a colorful program of teaching, research, continuing education and transfer, as well as campus life and campus culture.

Whoever has visited a Museumsuferfest knows that there is of course much more to discover and experience there. In addition to numerous food and drink stands, sculptures, paintings and installations will be on display on the art lawn on Sachsenhäuser Ufer. There is also much to discover at the international artists' market on the riverbank and on Schaumainkai, where those interested can purchase special objects, jewelry and clothing. Wait a minute, connoisseurs of the festival will now say. Isn't there something missing? Of course: the popular dragon boat race! In 2022, the Main River will once again become the race course for the infamous dragon boat races. From the Untermainbrücke to the finish at the Holbeinsteg, the drumbeats echo during the fast-paced races. They are the second oldest competitions of this kind in Germany.

"I recommend all visitors to take the opportunity to visit our museums with the Museumsuferfest button. A lot has happened in the past two years: New and reopened houses, such as the German Romantic Museum or the Jewish Museum are to be discovered anew," said TCF Managing Director Thomas Feda at the press conference. We can only agree with this recommendation.

The opening will traditionally take place on the stage of the guest of honor, Frankfurt UAS, on the northern bank of the Main at the height of the Nice on Friday, August 26, at 6 pm. The traditional conclusion of the festival is the spectacular musical fireworks on the Main on Sunday evening at 10 pm.
