It doesn't always have to be the Iron Bridge: 5 sparkling views for New Year's Eve
It doesn't always have to be the Iron Bridge: 5 sparkling views for New Year's Eve

Honestly now? In the last post of the year I have to talk out of the secrets. New Year's Eve in Frankfurt is always especially nice. For me, it has ALWAYS included a visit to the Main for the big fireworks. After I had a look at the - guaranteed sensible - security measures of the city, I was struck by the thought of the American writer David Foster Wallace, who once formulated so skilfully: "Everything very nice. But next time without me".

But so completely I can not and I will not do without watching the bang. We celebrate after all in small round with delicious Raclette, oysters and German champagne (sparkling wine!) with friends on the 20th floor in Sachenhausen. So this year the view is saved. For those who don't feel like crowds, but want to celebrate the New Year with a beautiful view, the following places are recommended:

The Galeria Kaufhof invites you to a New Year's Eve party on the terrace of the shopping palace, including a super view.

You can also celebrate on the Main at the height of the ECB at the Weseler Werft. Last year it was already incredibly busy like at a rock concert.

The Neue Brücke directly on the Hanauer Landstraße really offers a postcard view of the city center. If only Peter would cooperate,

The Lohrberg is popular and inspires with its fantastic, almost all-round view of the city!

The eager ones are not deterred by a little distance out of the city and up to the Feldberg in the Taunus, pack the picnic basket full and the wool socks on the feet. Thus weatherproof equipped, the party can start and the New Year come.

I thank all readers for their loyalty and wish you a happy and successful New Year! Hope to read you again in 2017
