Naggishly, the annual calendar is still essentially before us. We'd rather lounge on the sofa; especially when the left thigh is tweaking after the gym class and the back knows what it's been doing. It suits me just right that in January the museums are still tempting us with exciting and imaginative exhibitions. So a little dawdling in the museum, afterwards with a friend or the spouse in the Café stroll; so stress-free I have imagined the start of the New Year!
* The MUST for all fashionistas: the fabulous fashion exhibition of the <link http: www.museumangewandtekunst.de _blank>Museum Angewandte Kunst, which runs only until 31.1. Wild image videos, shot by big-name directors, for brands like Kenzo, Dior, Prada. Art in the truest sense of the word was created with clothes that were deprived of their purpose.
*See it already and found it good, oh, what am I talking about, incredibly enriching: "Tuchfühlung. Kostas Murkudis and the Collection of the <link http: mmk-frankfurt.de de home _blank>MMK." The renowned German fashion designer was largely responsible for the relaunch of the Schießer brand. The view of what is possible with clothing will never be the same after this.
*Sturmfrauen, from the turbulent 20-30s in Berlin shows the <link http: www.schirn.de _blank>Schirn. The world wrote of the exhibition that it was brilliant and worth every trip. And we just have to take the subway for it, have everything worth seeing and moreover unique right on our doorstep. For the exhibition shows a total of 18 STURM artists of Expressionism, Cubism, Futurism, Constructivism and New Objectivity. Wonderful, when we consider what turbulent times those were back then. On view until February 7!
* The <link http: www.liebieghaus.de lh _blank>Liebighaus is seductive: "Dangerous Liaisons" presents the delightful art of the Rococo in sculptures, paintings and prints, and you can literally hear the skirts rustling at the court of Louis XIV.
* Controversy presents the <link http: www.dam-online.de portal de start _blank>Architecture Museum: The Prize for Architecture for the Best Buildings from/in Germany on Jan. 30; awards ceremony on Jan. 29, 7 p.m. Lovers of the Bauhaus and friends of the debate about reconstruction, I won't say the bad word of "old town" now:-), should mark the date thick in their calendars.
Extratip: Guided tours for groups <link http: juedischesmuseum.de _blank>Memorial at the Grossmarkthalle
From 1941 to 1945, the Secret State Police used the basement of the Grossmarkthalle as a collection point for persecuted Jews. Nearly 10,000 people were forcibly deported and murdered from here by trains to ghettos, concentration and extermination camps.
The memorial at the Grossmarkthalle commemorates these events and the significance of the site. The memorial has a publicly accessible area along the railway embankment (Philipp-Holzmann-Weg). The part of the memorial on the grounds of the European Central Bank (ECB) is only accessible as part of guided tours.
Through the Jewish Museum, group tours (from December 2015) can be reserved for the newly opened memorial at the Grossmarkthalle. Individual tours are not possible!
