Pho Ngon - Top Vietnamese in Moselstrasse!

Category: Restaurants

Finding the right restaurant on a sultry summer evening is truly no easy feat. One is(s) kind of pient. It can't be too heavy, too fatty, too hot, too hearty - everything sucks.

In this basic mood, I got stranded at Pho Ngon on Moselstrasse 25.
That Moselstrasse has excellent Chinese is well known but this Vietnamese noodle<x>ampersand</x> dim sum bar is fairly new (approx. 1 year) and was a first-timer.

The cordial service improved my mood abruptly as soon as I was seated, and when a wonderful homemade lime-mint lemonade was on the table, nothing stood in the way of a leisurely dinner.

The summer rolls for starters were already aesthetically like a cool breeze and the combination of crisp herbs, scampi, pork and bun noodles wrapped in a paper-thin rice paper was just delicious! It was served with two fine sauces.

Equipped with these fresh taste sensations, now came the main course: bun ga nuong. As is immediately apparent from the name *ahem*, this is Grilled Chicken on a Skewer with Rice Noodles and Fresh Herbs. (10,50.-€)
But the chicken was not just simply grilled. It was deliciously topped with toasted sesame seeds, onion and peanuts, and lemongrass! The roasted flavors of the grilled meat, with the nutty, citrusy notes - my Mr´n!
The noodles, on the other hand, weren't bland as you'd expect, but had a slight floral note as well. I've never had it like this before. These are mixed with the herbs and chopped lettuce and drizzled with a tangy, sweet and sour sauce. The sauce isn't some sticky glutamate crap though, it's a light, sweet vinegar essence. It's just all homemade and you can tell with every chopstick snap!

The dessert consisted of beans, special seaweed as well as coconut milk and a secret or two more. It was chilled and it was addictive!

The area is admittedly quaint, I personally love it and find it incredibly exciting - either way, a visit to Pho Ngon is definitely worth it!!
