25 years of GrünGürtel - New boardwalk in Schwanheimer Düne opens

(kus) For about 400 meters, a wooden plank path in the Schwanheimer Düne nature reserve runs across the sensitive sandy soils and helps protect the rare animals and plants that live there. After the oak wood of the path had become old and more and more susceptible to repair, craftsmen, in the 25th GreenBelt anniversary year, carefully dismantled it by hand and replaced it on the same route with a footbridge made of resistant sweet chestnut wood. After about three months of construction, the path is now open again for visitors to the nature reserve. The project was financially supported by Infraserv Höchst, whose premises are directly adjacent to the Schwanheim dune.

On Friday, December 2, at 10 a.m., Rosemarie Heilig, Head of the Department of the Environment, and Jürgen Vormann, Managing Director of Infraserv Höchst, will open the new footbridge. Citizens are cordially invited to attend. Employees of the GrünGürtel project group will offer short tours of the dune. In keeping with the season, there will be warm drinks, soup and cookies.

The venue is located at the northern entrance to the nature reserve on Martinsweg, right next to the Schmitt´schen pit, where the boardwalk begins. Some parking is available on Schwanheimer Uferstraße at the GrünGürtel-Entree Schwanheimer Unterfeld, from there it is about 500 meters walk to the venue.

By public transport: Bus number 51 to the stop "Alter Friedhof Schwanheim", then 500 meters on foot. The venue is signposted
