Citywide development of the Mainkais
The Advisory Services Panel (ASP) of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) proposes for the urban spatial development of Mainkai that the metropolis should be understood as a "city of the river" in its entirety. In addition, the panel has developed three guiding principles that form the basis for a transformation: greener and more sustainable, "human" and active and cultural Mainkai. Thus, the Mainkai redesign would be a catalyst for the transformation of downtown and the activation of the "Main" infrastructure. The results of the ASP, which met from Sunday, June 25, to Friday, June 30, is a first step for a concept for the transformation of the entire urban space and should serve as a basis for further planning steps.
Stefan Majer, Head of Department for Mobility and Health, says: "The panel's task was to develop a vision for the Mainkai, which will enable us to continue the substantive discussion of where we want to go with the urban space. The view from the outside helps to put one's own position and perspective into perspective. In addition, we wanted to learn in the process from the experiences of other cities that are facing similar developments and have already mastered them in parts."
In general, the goal of ULI's Advisory Services program is to bring urban development and project development expertise to bear on complex land use planning and development projects while providing a platform for discussion. Since 1947, this program has assembled more than 600 teams to develop creative and practical solutions to issues
